Amica Center for Immigrant Rights v. Department of Justice

Filed in: U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia

Summary

A coalition of nonprofits providing direct services for immigrants sued the Trump-Vance administration to block Executive Order 14159, titled “Protecting the American People Against Invasion.” The order required that all non-profit organizations providing legal services to non-citizens be subjected to an audit and cut off from federal funding. The plaintiffs argue the order violates the Administrative Procedure Act, as well as the plaintiffs’ First Amendment right to free speech. Plaintiffs seek declaratory and injunctive relief.
