Agency Leadership/Political Appointees, Politicization of DOJ

Summary

Former senior Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials challenge their August 2025 terminations. Plaintiffs allege that they were unlawfully dismissed in retaliation for case assignments involving President Trump from prior to his current term, and for refusing to politicize FBI operations. Plaintiffs allege the firings violated their First Amendment rights to speech and association and their Fifth Amendment due process rights, and exceeded constitutional authority. They seek declaratory, equitable, and mandamus relief, including reinstatement and a judicial declaration that the dismissals are unlawful and void.
