Legal Action
Franco Aleman v. Trump
Filed in: U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington
Summary
The plaintiffs, immigrant expectant mothers living in the country without citizenship, sued the Trump-Vance administration in an attempt to block Executive Order 14160. The order denies birthright citizenship to children born in the U.S. and whose parents are not citizens or lawful permanent residents. Plaintiffs argue this order directly violates the 14th Amendment and should be declared unconstitutional.
On January 27, 2025, this case was consolidated with State of Washington v. Trump, 2:25-cv-00127, and continues under that name.
